Thomas Haney Secondary SchoolOur annual craft fair is always the last full weekend of November.  This year it will be November 24 & 25, 2018.  This is a large fundraiser that our school holds in order to raise money towards student scholarships and a variety of charities.

If you are interested in perhaps being a vendor at our November Craft Fair please bring some sample products (including pricing) to our jurying day.  This year it is being held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Thomas Haney Secondary at 9am.  Enter through the main doors of the building, proceed downstairs into the rotunda.  There is no pre-registration required for jurying – just attend on April 7th .  Return to pick up your items at 11 am.

We hope to see you there! Please read below for the detailed information that you will need.

Best regards,

Debbie Davis & Sandra Shamro

Jurying

For many craft fairs and shows, there is a selection board or ‘jury’ in charge of accepting or declining your application for participation.  Please keep in mind that each year’s jury will have their opinion.  If you are not accepted one year, we encourage you to apply again since the jury for the following year may have different viewpoints and the overall selection may change.  Remember that jurying means a higher quality fair, likely to attract fewer sightseers and more serious buyers.  In some cases, crafts may be declined simply because of space restrictions or an overabundance of submissions in a particular category.

Make your jury display as attractive as possible.  Not all jurors will know your work.  You only get one chance to make a good impression.

***If your product involves a food item, you are required to show evidence that you have a permit from your local Health Department.  No food will be considered without this. ***

Jurying will take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018, 9:00 am.  Set up is from 9:00 am until 9:30 am.  Pick-up will be at 11 am until 11:30 am.

Make note of the time you can pick up your items and be there on time.  We do not have adequate storage space to keep your samples for a long period of time.  If you can’t pick them up personally, arrange for a friend to get them.  We must be finished with our jurying activities by 12:00 pm on April 7–after that time you will not have access to the school.

In applying for this craft fair, craftspeople and artists understand that the decision of the jurors is final.  Our jurors will give careful consideration to all products submitted.  The criteria used is as follows:

Design: includes originality and creativity, quality of design, use of color and suitability of materials to design.

Workmanship: includes attention given to craftsmanship & finishing details such as gluing, stitching, painting, dying etc.

Salability: includes consumer appeal–marketability, pricing, labeling, packaging, and safety.

Balance: Jurors will base their decision on which products to accept for overall craft fair appeal based on the above criteria.  If many submissions of a similar product are received, they cannot all be accepted.

ALL PRODUCTS MUST BE THE ORIGINAL WORK OF THE CRAFTSPERSON (OR A MEMBER OF THEIR FAMILY) APPLYING FOR THE SPACE

ONLY PRODUCTS THAT ARE JURIED AND ACCEPTED MAY BE DISPLAYED.
